Oxy-hydrogen Gas: The Rationale Behind Its Use as a Novel and Sustainable Treatment for COVID-19 and Other Respiratory Diseases

Oxy-hydrogen gas (HHO) is a gaseous mixture of molecular hydrogen and oxygen that generated by the electrolysis water delivered in 2:1 ratio (66% 33%, respectively) through use noninvasive inhalation devices such as nasal cannulas or nebulisers. Although there paucity scientific evidence supporting this new emerging therapy, initial investigations indicate HHO proffers cytoprotective qualities, typically reducing oxidative stress attenuating inflammatory response. These aspects are particularly favourable when considering respiratory medicine because underlying inflammation known to drive pathological progress numerous conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, and, pertinently, coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Direct delivery lung parenchyma also likely increase effectiveness medical therapy. This narrative review aims delineate how particular combination gases can affect cellular processes at level focussing on evolutionary requirement for both hydrogen. Furthermore, authors assess current available data safety efficacy clinical setting.
